The GeoHistorian Project is an initiative from Kent State University’s Research Center for Educational Technology (RCET), aimed at educating K-12 students to become local historians who create digital content for an audience that transcends the walls of their classrooms. It is based on our work in the areas of ubiquitous computing and mobile learning that focuses on the use of mobile technologies to break down the barriers between schools and the world around us. Student-created, digital, and local historical content will be available online and freely accessible by way of wireless mobile devices and QR codes (2-dimensional bar codes) that will be placed in relevant community locations.

For more information on the GeoHistorian Project visit the Kent State University eInside site.

There are 11 short video's that have been produced by the GeoHistorian Project. Each of these video's focuses on an important landmark in the city of Kent. To view the video's click one of the arrows in the video window. Each of the video's will follow in succession.
The map shows the first 10 points of interest that have the QR code markers installed. If you have a smart phone you can go to that spot and read the QR Code. You will then be taken to the video and you will be able to get detailed information on that POI. Click the green pin and find out what that POI is.
