The History of Industry in Kent

The Industrial Area Historic Walk highlights some of the first and most influential businesses of downtown Kent. This district is an area that reveals two major phases in the history of Kent, the early manufacturing period and the railroad era. This tour was developed by Julie Kenworthy, Director of the Kent Historical Society & Museum, Doug Fuller, retired architect specialized in historic preservation, Josie Myers, Master’s student & Map It! GA, and Jen Mapes, Associate Professor of the Department of Geography at Kent State University.
